Introduce a Girl to Engineering day
IGEday is an event where girls aged 13–19 get the opportunity to explore their interest in technology and experience what life as an engineer is like at a company somewhere in Sweden.
Together, we inspire the next generation of engineers.
IGEday stands for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day and is an event where girls aged 13–19 have the opportunity to explore their interest in technology and experience what life as an engineer is like at a company somewhere in Sweden. By meeting female engineers, experiencing technology in practice, and gaining insight into different engineering roles, participants gain inspiration for their future studies and career choices. The goal is to increase girls’ interest in technology and engineering careers and contribute to a more gender-balanced engineering industry in the future.
In the long term, the lack of female engineers is not only an individual issue but also a societal one. In addition to the general shortage of engineers, schools, organizations, and companies are missing out on valuable female talent and perspectives. Fewer innovations are created when everyone thinks alike, less diverse companies tend to be less profitable, and the gender pay gap continues to persist. The event is organized by the Womengineer Foundation. You can read more about Womengineer below.
the Womengineer Foundatiom
IGEday is organized by the Womengineer Foundation. The foundation was established in 2008 with the mission of increasing the number of women pursuing engineering education and careers. We strive to inspire and support young girls in choosing engineering studies and to contribute to a more gender-equal technology and engineering sector.
